Lend a Helping Hand

The Friends International Library committee thanks all of you for your continued interest and support for helping to generate Power of Goodness for the world’s young people. The long-range vision of the Friends International Library (FIL) committee includes many versions in many languages of Power of Goodness for countries in many parts of the world where the messages in the stories will be a force for reconciliation and peace. There are many ways you can help further the Power of Goodness project. Some are practical and some are financial. Both are needed to insure future versions of the story collection. We truly appreciate any and all forms of participation.

Help with Covering Costs

We have raised approximately $12,000 to cover all of the pre-press expenses. Our Moscow publisher has completed the layout which will be submitted to our Chechen printer for final publication.

Presently, our highest priority is raising funds for the printing of 10,000 copies of Power of Goodness and the accompanying manual and the overhead costs for the teachers workshops. Our budget for these expenses is set at $75,000. Our partner organizations, Peacebuilding UK, a social service non-profit organization in Britain that founded Little Star has taken the lead in submitting a proposal for his phase of the project. We also receive advice and practical support from the Chechnya Advocacy Group in New York City.

Help with the Story Pool

The FIL committee has begun to create a pool of inspiring stories from around the globe that exemplify nonviolence and reconciliation. Do you know such a story? Pass it along to us--whether already fully written or just an idea or an experience or relationship. We can help you research and develop the story into final form for possible use in a new edition.

Help with Youth Illustrations

Please help us locate young people ages six to twenty from all parts of the world to create illustrations for new stories. It will be an invaluable contribution if you put us in touch with individual youth or schools that will have an interest in helping with this.
